SEASON FINALE: Susan Ackerman Mailbag
Public Power Underground - Season 2 finale - May 27th, 2021
It’s the SEASON FINALE, and to celebrate the conclusion of another wonderful season of Public Power Underground we invited a special guest of honor, Susan Ackerman, to join us for an after dark, mailbag episode.
Susan recently announced her retirement from her role as Eugene Water and Electric Board’s (EWEB) Chief Energy Officer. To celebrate her career and ask her deeply personal and occasionally inappropriate questions the Underground invited a cast of extraordinary characters from around the region to join us for an after-dark, after-hours, happy-hour-ish episode.
04:30 - Arin Reports the Season 2 World Series Lineup
09:58 - Lightning Round questions
33:16 - A perspective on the fundamentals of energy markets
38:20 - Susan and Therese talk about market evolution and the Power Pool’s Resource Adequacy program
45:27 - Opinions on regulatory oversight paradigms for IOUs and COUs
51:08 - Anadromous Championship Belt return counts
56:38 - Ted-Lasso-inspired Season Finale sappy speech
You might be wondering why we formatted an episode celebrating Susan Ackerman’s career as a special after-dark Season Finale with a Ted-Lasso-inspired finale speech? That is because I believe in symbolic gestures.
Our extraordinary cast of characters:
Karen Heim, PPC’s Office Administrator and Public Power Underground’s Editor-at-Large
